Art is awesome.
We could all agree there’s at least one piece of art that gets our creative juices going.
This art can belong to a specific game. For example, D&D 5e has amazing art.
Just look at it! There’s so much in this picture and each one of them can be used as a plot hook.
Moving on to Tales from the Loop. Have you seen the cover of the rulebook?
Every time I take a look at it I regret not backing the Kickstarter. I really need to buy this game. I consider the art of this game spot on. You immediately understand what the game is about but also gets you in the mood of playing it.
But, of course, art that’s not made for a specific game can be an amazing source of inspiration as well.
When I saw this one, after I managed to get my dropped jaw back to its place, I started thinking about how it could be used in a Shadowrun game. I don’t know why but the system that first came to mind was Shadowrun. Maybe because of the the tiny helicopter.
Also, as I mentioned yesterday, I once used art pieces to create a one shot. I think I recently deleted the folder about that one shot so I don’t have the art available sadly. It was a really cool mental exercise and I believe the session turned out okay
And that’s my answer for today’s question. My question for you is what’s your favorite art piece from a game?
Tomorrow’s question is about music that enhances your game. I haven’t used a lot of music in my games but I’ve got a few ideas.
So until then, have fun!
