Twenty years is a really long time.

I don’t know what I will still be playing in 20 years but I can make a guess for what will still exist in 20 years.

Last year, I would have been able to answer more easily. Because last year I would have been able to say that D&D could easily withstand another 20 years. But after all that happened from December to about February, I can’t say that. At least not in the way I would have envisioned it last year. D&D is changing a lot and it’s moving to new paths that I can’t say for sure are taken based on right decisions. So, yes, D&D will exist in 20 years but I also do believe the player base will have changed dramatically.

Another bet I am making is that Free League Publishing will still exist. It is a great company that is making really interesting games. I don’t think all the current games will exist in 20 years, but the company itself will still be making games. Tha same goes for Kobold Press.

I also think Pathfinder will still be a thing. I don’t know which edition will be the current one in 20 years but the game has a strong player base.

And most importantly, I believe The Kind GM will still be a thing in 20 years. But that’s mostly my wish than my guess.

And these are my guesses for today. I will keep this post and check it out in 20 years’ time to see if I got anything right. Tomorrow’s question is “Favourite LICENSED RPG”. Oh, there are so many of those nowadays.
