RPGaDay2023 – Day 29: Most memorable ENCOUNTER

I don’t need to think a lot about this one.

It was the final encounter in Out of the Abyss. After multiple demon lords wrecked Menzoberranzan in a fight to decide who the best demon lord of the neighborhood was, only Demogorgon was left. I didn’t reduce its hit points, though. I wanted a nice rough fight that would be memorable. And I was willing to be very very generous when it came to the rules, for both sides. So when a Paladin/Warlock wanted to add Smite to their Eldritch Blast I was happy to let them roll, with disadvantage of course. Now mind you, that player, a few sessions before that one, had to roll 3 or more to hit a Saving Throw and managed to roll a 2. Therefore, as was willing to bend reality a bit to at least give a nice effect to the attempt. But then he rolled two 20s and the table went wild. I was happy because of what happened and also because I had decided to not reduce the hit points of Demorogon because that attack took a CHUNK out of it.

Yeah, quite memorable. I do, however, plan on creating even better memories than this one. The next question is “OBSCURE RPG you’ve played”.

And until next time, have fun!
