#RPGaDay2024 – Day 5: RPG with great writing

Let’s talk about writing.

I started this with a phrase similar to yesterday’s post because both days focus on aspects of creating a good RPG. In fact, someone could argue that writing is more important than the art.

I said I would check out my library and try to find a non Free League Publishing RPG to talk about. I didn’t have the time to do that today but I have found one I want to talk about. But first, a quick shoutout to Forbidden Lands because I enjoy its writing and I have it on my nightstand to read every now and then.

Now let’s move on to the actual RPG I want to talk about. And this one is Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound by Cubicle 7.

I think I have talked about this one before, but there is a good reason I keep mentioning this. I find its writing really good. It is a setting/lore heavy RPG and that helps a lot, I believe, especially if the one reading it was a fan of Warhammer before getting their hands on this game. It has some pretty interesting mechanics that impressed me enough to have a couple of them kinda integrated into my home games. And, of course, the writing is not convoluted and new players can understand how things work pretty quickly.

And I think that’s all for today. I keep mentioning that I need to leave my office space because of the heat and I realyl mean it. It’s 10.30 at night and it’s 32 degrees celsius in here, when anywhere else is 29 at most. Tomorrow’s question is “RPG that is easy to use”. I alreayd have a couple of them in mind.

And until next time, have fun!
