I’m swapping this one for two reasons.
RPG with a good form was a bit difficult for me to understand so I had to skip it. Plus, the alternative theme for today is Forgotten City so I couldn’t pass this up. So let’s see d10 things you can find in a Forgotten City.
- A malfunctioning stone golem covered in moss. It wanders the city and becomes aggressive only if threatened. But what is considered a threat for a malfunctioning stone golem?
- A dilapidated potion stand. Most of the potion bottles are broken but some of them remain. However, the labels have long faded…
- A clan of Wererats that have made a district their home. They are willing to trade for goods or information.
- A fountain at the centre of one of the city’s squares. It’s not working anymore and the water has turned murky. Do you notice a ripple in the water…or is it merely a trick of the light?
- A patrol of skeletons wearing worn-down armour with the emblem of the city. Even in death, they are still in formation, remaining loyal to their city.
- A destroyed notary office. The parchments and books in it are burnt or mouldy. Although, there is one particular scroll case that seems defiant against time, with not a speckle of dust upon its bronze surface.
- An inn, with its lights on and noise of merriment coming from inside. The windows are too dirty to see clearly inside but you can see silhouettes of people. The moment you open the door everything stops, and you come across an abandoned space with broken chairs and tables.
- A spectral procession parading down a large street. The ghosts and spirits seem to be having the time of their…unlives, playing music and frolicking. However, the street remains totally silent.
- A ghoul with a top hat holding a sign that says “Tourguide for hire”. It replies in any language you speak to it and is happy to guide you around the city.
- An armoury under a bridge connecting two towers of the city. It’s not easy to find but looks well kept. Inside, short, robed figures move around taking care of the equipment found there. Everything is in excellent condition. If someone tries to remove the cowl of one of the figures the robe drops to the ground like nothing was in it. Don’t try this too many times, though, because even the patience of short, robed figures who like taking care of an abandoned armoury has its limits.
What can I say? I really like forgotten cities. I hope you get some use out of this table. Tomorrow’s question is “An accessory you appreciate”. I can work with that.
And until next time, have fun!
