This is me showing off the cool stuff I got this year.
I don’t go to Gencon, or other conventions to be honest, due to geographical limitations. Living in Greece makes all the good conventions a bit too far away for my budget. So I miss all the good stuff one can buy there, and then talk about. So I’m doing a holiday haul. This year’s holiday haul has been quite good. It also covered quite a few of my hobbies as well!
Necrons are cool
This year’s holiday boxes did not include Adeptus Mechanicus, which is my favourite faction in Warhammer 40k. However, Necrons happen to be my second favourite (and Nicole’s favourite) faction and the battleforce featured the Shard of the Void Dragon. I consider this one of the best models overall in 40k. I’m not talking about rules. Even if I checked out the rules now and said the Void Dragons is good, that could probably change in a couple of months. I don’t tend to buy a lot of miniatures these days, since I have a huge backlog and can’t find any time to paint them. But this was a good purchase, especially considering I got it at a good price, one of the privileges of being an old LGS customer.
So much Magic!
I’d say this year was quite MtG-heavy. But, to be honest, I managed to play more D&D, board games, and MtG than last year, especially when taking my workload into consideration. But Magic has taken an almost constant spot in my brain. I’ve even decided to do the Commander 32 Deck Challenge. I will have an update on this soon-ish. So it should not be a surprise that I got another commander deck. Of course, I had to get sleeves for it too. I like Dragon Shield a lot. I find them quite sturdy. And, of course, I had to get the erasable tokens. I can’t wait to use them as a passive-aggressive comment to Anastasios creating 2 more 4/4 tokens with Gimbal. The orange bag was a gift and contained a couple more boosters, which would make you believe it brought their total number in this picture up to 5. But that would be false because the commander box also had a 2-card booster. I like opening boosters every now and then. Nicole likes opening them as well. The difference between us is that she has golden hands that open good cards so she ends up opening most of the boosters. By the way, we try to upload a pack opening every week on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. I would really appreciate a follow there.
Boardgames? Boardgames.

I mentioned Cascadia in the latest Random Ramblings because I actually got to play it a couple of times. Birdwatcher basically hasn’t even been opened yet. I think I removed the plastic wrap thing at some point but didn’t get the time to check it out. I can say with a confident amount of confidence that you will see some board game-related reviews…articles…things this year. It’s a working title.
I have a problem
And I don’t mean my RPG book and RPG paraphernalia addiction. I mean that in order to open this Dungeon Master’s Screen I must tear the paper thingy on the back. Someone please explain to me why this was a packaging design choice in 2024. This is one of the reasons why I haven’t opened and written about this yet.
The dice must flow
When I joined the tabletop RPG space in 2014, I used to watch a lot of videos about running sessions. These cubes were featured in so many of those videos, and I think I get it. However, I couldn’t find them in a local store and eventually forgot about them. Funnily enough, I paid a quick visit to the local game store on Christmas Eve and there they were. I’m looking forward to using them.
And thats’ most of it, I believe. I must have forgotten a thing or two but it’s fine. By the way, this article is sponsored by my late grandma’s embroidery, which is a staple in every greek household.
And until next time, have fun!
