#RPGaDAY2025 – Day 2: Prompt

This day feels meta.

Today’s prompt is “prompt”.

Prompts can vary a lot, depending on your patron. Orders, cryptic messages, mysterious invitations, a plea for help, a worn map, a rumour. These are good and tried ways to start an adventure. And, to be honest, you can’t go wrong with the classics. Plus, these are abstract concepts you can shape into exactly what you need.

For fun, I tried using the 3 roll tables of the event to generate some prompts.

“While the adventurers are walking on a path through the woods, they come across a tree that has its trunk sculpted into an intricate scene of battle. The more they look at it, the more some of the figures resemble themselves.”

“A messenger owl brings a letter to the adventurers, inviting them to the nearby wizardry tower and asking for help. The letter mentions scholars going missing when researching a specific book, which the sender is afraid to mention.”

“A shady figure approaches the adventurers while resting in a tavern. They sit with them uninvited and place a severed finger on the table. They tell them this finger belongs to someone who received orders to assassinate the adventurers. The finger has a ring with a symbol very familiar to the adventurers…”

And that’s all for today. It’s a bit short, but I did have some travelling to do. But I did have fun coming up with the prompts, and I invite you to try and do the same with the 3 roll tables of the event.

Tomorrow’s prompt is “tavern”, a classic.

And until next time, have fun!
