Let’s be straightforward for this one.
What motivates me to be a Game Master?
I don’t have a specific and certain explanation. I mean, when I started playing, I just said, “Oh well, I will be the GM”. I think it’s partly because I was amazed by how good my first GM was. It gave me a clear image of what a GM should do. This solidified as I started watching Chris Perkins GM, and reading his articles.
After that, I kinda became the de facto GM of my group. I’m not a forever GM, though, since Anastasios runs a session from time to time, so I don’t get burnt out. Another reason I don’t get burnt out easily is that I discuss with the LGS owner about our sessions, which gives us fresh ideas. Finally, the most embarrassing reason I don’t get burnt out is that, due to how the players are spread out all over Greece, with very different schedules, our sessions are quite far apart.
Another thing that motivates me to be a GM is that I get to do worldbuilding. I really like worldbuilding and got into a short rant about it yesterday, so I won’t do that again.
I’d like to go deeper into this, but I had to travel again today, and I am a bit exhausted. Plus, a dog is complaining to me that he needs more pats. So I will stop. Tomorrow’s prompt is “Journey”. Damn, these are some really good prompts.
And until next time, have fun!
P.S.: You can find all of my posts for this year’s RPGaDay here. Thanks to AUTOCRATIK and Casting Shadows for hosting another year of the event.
