Here’s a plothook for you.
For the last decade, the forests and farmlands of the kingdom have burned, and every time they do, it feels like it’s getting worse. Villages lie abandoned, animals have either died off or migrated away, and the people are left to survive through the ashes of their homes. The royal court always acts each time a little too late and then blames natural misfortune. Whispers among the people tell of fire elementals, mercenary arsonists, and even a hidden cabal in the capital profiting from the destruction.
The heroes are approached by a druid, an old member of the court and now turned hermit. They claim that among the natural fires lie blazes not of this world and certainly not natural. They believe this is part of an ancient omen, promising the coming of a being from another universe and, with it, destruction. The court did not heed the druid’s pleas years ago and even exiled them. Now they ask the heroes to venture into the fire-scarred lands, find proof of what’s coming, and try to stop those behind it.
That’s all for this prompt. It is definitely not related to any real-life situation currently going on, and definitely not close to me. The next prompt coming up is “mystery”.
And until next time, have fun!
