#RPGaDAY2025 – Day 22: Ally

I have told this story many times, and I will never get bored telling it.

I have talked about Therai before.

Therai was introduced to the player characters as a blind divination wizard Tiefling. In fact, he was a player character for a moment or two. But was he really what he said he was? Probably? Could he also be more than that? Definitely?

Therai would always make some play on words when it came to his sight. It left the players guessing whether he’s actually blind. Well, he could probably be blind in the sense that his eyes did not provide him with vision. But there was something that allowed him to see. Not just the present, but also the past and the future.

Therai would also disappear for long spans of time. Nobody would notice immediately but if anyone started realising he wasn’t there, he would just be there. Especially when the other characters needed help. That’s what they liked a lot about him. He would be there with a solution to a problem. But the thing is, would it be the right solution for the right problem? Who knows? Does Therai know? I’m not sure.

Things got even more interesting when Therai appeared to a whole different group of adventurers on a whole different world. Still, he would be helpful, in a way. That’s probably when the rumours started spreading about a blind Tiefling providing solutions to sometimes the right problems.

Could Therai be a god? I cannot tell. There are quite a few adventurers considering this possibility and paying some sort of respect to him, you know, just in case. But then again, did that turn him into a god, or was he a god before that? But if he was a god before that, why did nobody know about him before? This is a cyclical argument, and I’m getting dizzy already.

The point is Therai is.

And that’s all I know about this weird ally. Let me check what the next prompt is. Ah, it’s “recent”. I may have to visit the dungeon for this one.

And until next time, have fun!
