I have a puzzle for you.
I mean an actual puzzle.
We released a one-shot dungeon crawl in June. It’s called Underflow, and it’s pretty neat if you ask me. We featured a relatively simple puzzle in it and I’d like to share it with you.
There are four pillars near the centre of the room. On each of the pillars, there is a dial with numbers from
1 to 20. This used to be a mechanism that opened heavy metal doors to drain excess water, but it is now
in disrepair. Only half of it is in working condition and is used to safely store part of the gang’s stash.
The dials on the top left and bottom right pillars still work and can open the metal door on the south wall
of the room. The way to operate the pillar is the following:
The top left pillar sets a number. The bottom right
pillar must match the number of letters that are used
to write the number.
A note in the Barracks gives a hint on how the dials
are operated.
Oh, and here’s the note as well.

The thing with puzzles is that if you get it, it’s all good. But if your brain gets stuck, then you have a problem. I think this one’s not that bad, but then again, I am looking at it as someone who knows how it works.
I hope you find this useful. Also, if you want to take a look at Underflow, you can get it for free on itch.io or DriveThruRPG. As for the next prompt, it’s “experience”.
And until next time, have fun!
P.S.: You can find all of my posts for this year’s RPGaDay here. Thanks to AUTOCRATIK and Casting Shadows for hosting another year of the event.
