The Dread Tailor is an introductory (and slightly silly) adventure for 1st level characters by Kerry Jordan for 5th Edition.

Story
The players find their way to the small village of Goodmeadow, where they meet the local wizard; a treasure map has come into their possession, and they need his help to decipher it. However, he’s a bit busy – a caravan headed for the village was recently attacked, and he has to investigate. However, there’s an easy solution – the players can do his job instead, and he’ll work on the map.
However, the caravan was not attacked by normal bandits – no, it was attacked by a powerful lich, with connections to such powerhouses as Vecna and Acererak, Geoff the Dread Tailor! Well, the connection is that he made their (probably very fancy) robes, so they kept him around as an undead. So the players must now venture forth and face this terrible evil, which has awakened after a long time.
Well, it’s not the full story – but it’s close enough to the truth. The adventure has a humorous tone and is perfect for an introductory one-shot; it’s level 1 and has all the proper ingredients: combat, exploration, investigation, and social roleplaying. And some pretty nice rewards, too, let’s not forget about that.
Art & Layout
There’s a lot of boxed text and exposition to get the players in the mood, as well as information on the various NPCs they might interact with. There’s also several pieces of art to showcase various enemies and other characters, and of course a detailed map of the main encounter area.
In addition, there are also notes on how to change the adventure up a bit – minor adjustments if figures like Acererak aren’t present in your setting, as well as quite a few adjustments to make the tone a lot more serious and grim.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I really like The Dread Tailor – it’s a fun premise, and I can see it was designed with new players in mind – it’s perfect for a first session.
