Best piece of advice. Let’s see.
When I started playing tabletop RPGs I started as a Dungeon Master so I looked for advice for DMs. The most common piece of advice I’ve found is just a simple “Have fun”. And the two years that I’ve been a DM these two words have obtained three meanings.
Play a game you enjoy
You cannot have fun if you don’t like the game you’re playing. So you and your group should find the game that makes you have the most fun. Fortunately, there is an incredible amount of tabletop RPGs out there so there has to be one you will enjoy a lot.
Play with people you like
Toxicity in a group causes a lot of problems and of course you stop having fun at some point. So choose wisely the people you want to game with. Even if there aren’t people to play with in person, there are so many online games you can join.
Love what you do
In order to have fun as a DM you have to like being one. It shouldn’t be a chore because it also affects your players. If you don’t get enjoyment from it, step down and be a player.
And that was this year’s #RPGaDay. I hope you had as much fun as I had and I’d like to thank all who participated by either answering or reading. You’re all awesome!
Just a heads up. In the month of September I won’t be as active as I want to be but I will definitely post from time to time. I will also be showing signs of life on twitter so don’t worry.
And until next time, have fun!
