RPGaDay2023 – Day 10: Favourite tie-in FICTION

After googling to figure out what that means, I am ready to give you an answer.

My mother language is not English but I don’t really get confused very easily anymore, so that was refreshing. So, what’s a tie-in?

A tie-in work is a work of fiction or other product based on a media property such as a film, video game, television series, board game, web site, role-playing game or literary property.

So, in the context of tabletop RPGs for me, that would be the Forgotten Realms novels. Not because it’s a great favourite, but because I have read a ton of them. So that’s a book series I have read because I got into D&D.

But the reverse can happen as well. For example, an all-time favourite of mine is the Dune series. I believe these were the first big boy books I read and I am really glad I did. And now a new Dune RPG has come out and I am considering trying it. I mean, if my budget could have handled the slightly higher than usual price of the books I would have gotten them already.

And that’s all for today. Tomorrow’s question is “WEIRDEST game you’ve played”. The word game could be interpreted as both session and system. We shall see.

And until next time, have fun!
