#RPGaDAY2026 – Day 14: Regard

This is such an easy answer for me.

Today I’ll be going for the alternative question because, once I saw it, I couldn’t stop laughing. The question is “What is a game held in high regard you have yet to play?”.

I have a few RPGs. If I count my digital copies, a few becomes a lot. But there are two RPGs that fall perfectly into this category. Both come from Free League Publishing, and I own physical and digital copies of both.

The first one is Forbidden Lands. I was intrigued the moment I saw the art. I was further intrigued when I saw the concept. I lost the Kickstarter, but a stroke of luck allowed me to get the Kickstarter package anyway. I’ve been reading it on and off since and thinking about what kind of adventures I could run. However, I never took the plunge and decided to run something with it.

The second one is even worse, because I’ve been mentioning here for at least a year and a half that I want to run this. This is Death in Space. It is such an intriguing RPG, and the art is absolutely breathtaking. I usually prefer fantasy settings, but this sci-fi one talked to my heart. The concept of trying to survive in a universe that is slowly dying is very appealing. However, once again, I’ve talked about running something with it. I’ve looked up adventures. I’ve come up with some ideas. But I never took the final step.

I think in both cases the reason I haven’t decided to run something is caused by how used to D&D I am. And what I mean by that is D&D is a heavy-ish system that requires some work from both the players and the GM before playing. Character creation can be a bit time-consuming, especially if you are trying to work a concept you like. But in the case of both RPGs, that’s not true. I’ve seen it since I started playing Pirate Borg. Character creation is disgustingly easy. So this time I hope next time we come back here I can happily tell you that I actually managed to run both systems.

And that’s all for today. Thank you for letting me share my shame with you. Tomorrow’s prompt is Endurance. Another good one.

And until next time, have fun!
