Plane Shift: Zendikar

Now that was unexpected.

Edit: The supplement is now available on the DMs Guild as well.

Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering are two different games, but that doesn’t mean their Multiverses can’t meet.

Since I’m a fan of both those games I completely agree. And today, on the WotC’s Magic: The Gathering site, a supplement for D&D was released. Its name is Plane Shift: Zendikar. Also, did I mention it’s free?

For those who don’t know, Zendikar is one of the planes in the MtG multiverse. And this 38 page supplement contains information about the world, its people and its monsters.

Three pages contain information about the world and, especially, its ruins. There’s not much information about the world here because there is another book that was published last year that talks about it. I was thinking of buying it and now I’m almost sure I’ll get it.

The next 13 pages talk about the races of Zendikar. There are 6 playable races.

  • Elves with 3 variants
  • Goblins(yay!) with 3 variants
  • Vampires
  • Merfolk with 3 variants
  • Kor
  • Humans, who are the same with the Player Handbook’s humans

The rest of the supplement talks about the monsters! I didn’t see many stat blocks which, in my opinion, is not bad. The idea is that you can use the stats of the Monster Manual, with some changes. And that left a lot of space for fluff! Zendikar is home to many different kinds of monsters. There are Angels, Griffins, Sphinxes, Drakes, Krakens, Demons, Dragons, Undead, Giants and many more! And there are also the Eldrazi. What are the Eldrazi you ask? Well, let’s say that they’re like Tarrasques that can travel between planes and feed on the mana of the world.

But I’ve said enough. You can read more in the WotC’s article and don’t forget to download the supplement here! Oh, and you should also fill out the survey after you’ve read it! If there’s a lot of positive feedback we could get more content of this kind! Happy reading!

And until next time, have fun!
