#RPGaDay 2020: Day 3 – Thread

I lied, I won’t be talking about thread friendly code. You must be devastated.

One of the first things that comes to mind when I think of the word thread, in context of our hobby, is the concept of campaigns.

Campaigns tend to be continuing storylines. These storylines can be intricate and complex, creating a thread that seems tangled at first. But as you follow that thread, it turns out to be an artisan sweater.

There are other cases where a campaign is just a bunch of loosely connected adventures. The party moves from one adventure to the next, from one theme to another, which may seem weird at times.

But no matter how tangled the thread is, if your players and you are having fun then that’s all that counts. You don’t need a story so complicated that you have to create a story bible in order to remember who’s who in order to have fun with a campaign. Start simple, keep it simple. You can’t really go wrong with this advice.

And that’s for day three. Let’s see, tomorrow’s word is “vision”. Oh I’ll be having visions tomorrow because I will most probably have to remove a wisdom tooth. Wish me luck.
