Our first time visiting a show like this!
Conventions weren’t very popular in Greece when I got into card games. They weren’t popular 6 years after that, when I got into tabletop RPGs. They became slightly popular 5 years after that, when I somewhat got into miniature gaming. Now, there are a few large ones (in Greek standards, mind you) every year, though I never had the chance to attend any of them. However, my attention was drawn to one that was relatively close to me and would be a good fit for someone who had never attended one before.
The Arta 2026 International Scale Model Show was a 3-day event about scale models, as the name suggests. Still, there were a few opportunities to try some board games and card games as well. But the event was heavily focused on scale models, with the majority of the space covered by a scale model exhibition and contest. There were also some panels and paint-and-take side events. We weren’t sure what exactly to expect, so we didn’t sign up for anything. We just wanted to look around and get a taste of what a convention feels like.
There were so many miniatures and dioramas that made me go “wow”, but I will have to include only a few of them here. A huge mistake from my side was that I didn’t take note of who made each piece, so that I could mention them here. But then again, this was a spur of the moment kind of thing, to the point that I visited with an almost depleted battery on my camera. At least, there is always next year, because I’m definitely visiting next year as well. So I will leave you to check out my photos. If you want to check out more about the event and more models, you can take a look at the organiser’s Facebook page.
