#RPGaDAY2026 – Day 17: Intensity

Today was intense.

Travel doesn’t have to be lengthy to be intense. What happens during the travel is what affects its intensity.

Your travel may take 12 hours without any issues other than the time it takes. Then you can travel for 5 hours, under intense heat, and deep in enemy territory, fighting patrols every hour or so.

A session may contain that 12 hour travel as a sidenote and continue with what happens after the characters reach their destination. Someone else could run a session just with the travel part. There’s no right or wrong way. It all comes down to what the GM and the players want. If you want your game to feature resource management and wilderness survival, it’s all good. If, instead, you don’t care about all this and want to focus on the story, roleplay, sure, as long as everyone agrees.

I’m writing this while watching this view. As I said yesterday, today was travel day. It took a bit longer than I had thought, but the result was worth it. So I’m going to stop here and enjoy some more of the view. Tomorrow’s prompt is Directness.

And until next time, have fun!
