#RPGaDAY2026 – Day 20: Promise

We’re on day 20 already!

When I think of promise, what comes to mind is something related to the campaign I’m playing the wizard I’ve been mentioning throughout this event.

The party’s first mission was to figure out the reason for the increased goblin activity in the area around a canyon. It was affecting travellers and nearby villages, so things were serious. If the goblins raided the village again, there could be casualties. Plus, if they stole even more provisions, that would put the village in peril in the upcoming winter.

The party went to the village and then headed towards the canyon, following the goblin tracks. We were ambushed twice but managed to beat the goblins and then we found their lair. It was a large cave with multiple paths. There were also two ogres, so fighting wasn’t easy. We managed to take on the ogres and a few more goblins. Then, through, a bit of luck and magic, we managed to communicate with a group of goblins and agreed to kill something they were scared of in exchange with something they had stolen from the village.

That thing turned out to be a Black Pudding. It wasn’t an easy fight but, surprisingly, we managed to survive. So we took what had been stolen and left. This was a good decision at the time, because there were more goblins in the cave and we were exhausted with no place to rest.

Technically, we succeeded in figuring out what was the reason for the increased goblin activity (something something evil wizard mentioned by the goblins) and also we returned something important to the village. However, the village is most probably not safe yet.

And that’s were my question lies. My character has been thinking if he should return to the village and continue his fight against the goblins, because he feels like he gave a promise to the people there. The villagers were very happy when we returned, but my character knows they aren’t safe yet. And while we have informed the local lord, we don’t know if he will send soldiers to fortify the village and the canyon. And this is also where we stopped the session last time. Some characters believe our job is done. Others believe we should return. My wizard leans toward going back, but I have some more time to think about it.

And that’s all for today. Thanks for going through my ramblings about what my wizard is thinking about. Tomorrow’s prompt is Charity.

And until next time, have fun!
